Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani celebrated Teachers’ Day by honouring 80 teachers from government schools in Doha on Wednesday, acknowledging their vital role in developing Qatar’s education system.
Held at the Ritz-Carlton Doha under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed and the theme “Giving That Bears Fruit for Generations,” the event was organised by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. Minister of Education and Higher Education Lolwah Al-Khater also attended the ceremony.
“Today, I was pleased to honour 80 male and female teachers from various government schools,” Sheikh Mohammed shared in a post on X, emphasizing that the recognition celebrates their lasting impact on future generations and their exceptional dedication.
The ceremony commenced with students performing Qatar’s national anthem, followed by a video highlighting the diverse professional journeys of educators throughout Qatar. In her opening address, Minister Lolwah Al-Khater stated that a teacher's true legacy lies in shaping student character and preparing upcoming generations. She also shared an anecdote about the late Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani travelling to Egypt to offer condolences upon the passing of his teacher, Ahmed Ali Mansour, highlighting it as a profound example of respect for educators.
The event concluded with an exhibition showcasing innovative educational projects and applied research by students and teachers, emphasizing critical-thinking skills and modern technology in learning. Sheikh Mohammed and Lolwah Al-Khater personally presented the awards and posed for a group photograph with the honourees.
