A devastating Russian attack targeting a bus in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk has left at least 12 people dead and 14 others wounded, according to local authorities.

The local prosecutor’s office reported the preliminary casualty figures, noting that the final death toll is still being determined. Officials released distressing images showing bodies and debris scattered across a roadway next to the charred remains of a bus. Regional governor Vadym Filashkin also confirmed the strike and shared photographs of the destroyed vehicle.

Kramatorsk remains a vital logistics and supply hub for the Ukrainian military in the eastern Donetsk region, which Moscow claims as territory. As Russian forces edge closer to the city, the Kramatorsk City Council condemned the strike as a horrific crime against civilians, emphasizing that the area contained no military targets.

Meanwhile, in the northern Chernihiv region, the death toll from a Wednesday Russian missile strike on a residential building in Pryluky climbed to 22, including five children, according to Governor Vyacheslav Chaus. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that a cruise missile directly impacted the building located approximately 150km east of Kyiv.

In Russia, a drone strike triggered a fire at a data centre operated by the major technology company Yandex in the central Ryazan region southeast of Moscow. A former official indicated that Kyiv was behind the operation as both sides ramp up long-range cross-border strikes.
