Following weeks of rumours, global luxury fashion group Kering has officially confirmed that creative director Anthony Vaccarello has exited Saint Laurent. The label's parent company stated that he played a pivotal role in Saint Laurent's development, helping to strengthen its identity and influence across the worlds of fashion and culture.

Saint Laurent president and chief executive Cedric Charbit praised Vaccarello for his decade-long dedication to the company. He noted that the designer took Saint Laurent on a remarkable trajectory, elevating the house to the forefront of desirability and image while accomplishing exceptional creative and cultural work. Kering chief executive Luca de Meo added that through his vision and exacting standards, Anthony contributed to the enduring influence of one of France's greatest couture houses as they embark on a new chapter.

Anthony Vaccarello's spring/summer 2027 show marked his final presentation for Saint Laurent. Known for his dramatic flair, he frequently staged spectacles beneath the Eiffel Tower, showcasing razor-sharp tailoring, sheer mini dresses, and dramatic eveningwear that defined his vision of Paris after dark. His final show in Paris on September 29 featured gilded looks fading into darkness, serving as a fitting farewell to the French house.

Appointed in 2016 to succeed Hedi Slimane, Vaccarello brought vibrant colour, volume, and sensuality to the brand's traditional monochromatic codes. Under his direction, the house's revenue experienced significant growth, and his influence even expanded into cinema with the launch of the label's film-production arm in 2023.

His departure arrives during a period of broader transition for Kering, which is currently undergoing an 18-month overhaul led by chief executive De Meo to revive its brands. While Kering has yet to announce a successor, the search is underway to guide Saint Laurent into its next chapter while maintaining the glamour established over the past decade.
