Dubai has officially launched a dedicated body for orchestral music following a new law signed by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai. Issued as Law No. (20) of 2026, the legislation establishes the Dubai Orchestra Foundation to advance the arts, strengthen the emirate's cultural standing, and showcase musical excellence both regionally and internationally.
Among its primary duties, the Foundation will form a local orchestra, organize domestic and international performances, and preserve Emirati musical heritage. Additionally, the body aims to support emerging talent—including People of Determination—curate an annual calendar of events, and host visiting international orchestras.
The governance structure of the Foundation features a Board of Trustees led by a Chairman, Vice Chairman, and expert members, all appointed by the Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai. By fostering global partnerships, music education, and cultural collaborations, the initiative is designed to bolster Dubai's creative economy and enhance its appeal as a premier destination for cultural tourism and the performing arts.
