Egypt Forum 2026 is set to address strategies for enhancing the shift from in-kind subsidies to direct cash support. Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced on Monday, October 12, 2026, that these strategies include adjusting subsidy values based on price fluctuations and inflation rates to safeguard beneficiaries' purchasing power. Madbouly stated during a review meeting for the "A More Effective Social Protection System" session that these proposed measures are designed to foster social justice and empower citizens with greater autonomy in selecting goods that meet their specific needs. The meeting, part of the preparations for Egypt Forum 2026 scheduled in the New Capital from October 19 to 24, was attended by Social Solidarity Minister Maya Morsy, Supply and Internal Trade Minister Sherif Farouk, National Organization for Social Insurance Chairman Gamal Awad, Assistant Finance Minister for the General Budget Ali el-Sisi, and other officials from relevant ministries. This marks the second workshop dedicated to reviewing the planned session, which will explore the government's initiatives to support diverse societal segments, with a particular focus on vulnerable and low-income groups. Prime Minister Madbouly emphasized the importance of actively listening to citizens' concerns and public sentiment regarding this critical issue affecting their daily lives. He affirmed the government's commitment to transparency and openness, noting that the discussions will delve into the challenges faced within the social protection sector in recent years and outline objectives for the upcoming phase. The ultimate goal, he added, is to generate actionable outcomes that can inform government decisions, improve citizen services, and consequently elevate their quality of life and living conditions.
