Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior has been handed a four-match suspension following a red card for pulling an opponent's hair during a recent La Liga match. The ban means the Brazilian international will miss Real Madrid's next four league fixtures, a list that notably includes the highly anticipated El Clásico clash against Barcelona on October 25. The Spanish football federation's disciplinary committee confirmed the suspension on Wednesday, stemming from an incident during the game against Villarreal last week.

Vinicius Junior, also known as Vini Jr., received a red card after a VAR review determined he had pulled Nathan Saliba's hair in the build-up to what he thought was Real Madrid's second goal. The referee, Isidro Diaz de Mera, disallowed the goal and issued the red card. The disciplinary committee cited both the red card and Vinicius's subsequent protests as reasons for the extended ban, which will see him miss the crucial match against league leaders Barcelona.

The incident occurred shortly after Vinicius entered the game in the 52nd minute, receiving his marching orders approximately 20 minutes later. Following the match, Vinicius took to social media to apologize to his teammates and the fans for his actions, stating, "sorry to the team and the fans." The forward had been celebrating what he believed was a goal that would double Real Madrid's lead before the VAR review led to the red card.
