Tenzing Norgay's Historic Everest Ascent Takes Center Stage in New Apple TV Drama

The new Apple TV drama, Tenzing, brings to life the true story of Tenzing Norgay, the legendary Himalayan mountaineer. The film chronicles his monumental achievement alongside Sir Edmund Hillary of New Zealand, as they became the first individuals to conquer the summit of Mount Everest in 1953. This adventure drama uniquely explores their historic ascent from the perspective of Tenzing Norgay. The narrative follows Tenzing's determined efforts to secure a place on the British expedition, rather than merely serving its members. It delves into the cultural and class divisions present within the team, as well as Tenzing's profound spiritual connection to the mountain he reveres as Chomolungma. Willem Dafoe portrays the expedition leader, Colonel John Hunt. The film is set to air on October 16.
