Eighteen-year-old all-rounder Uddish Suri is set to make his franchise cricket debut in the upcoming Abu Dhabi T10 league next month. Despite balancing his mechanical engineering studies with the demands of professional cricket, the Dubai-born left-arm wrist-spinner expressed immense joy rather than trepidation upon being selected in the draft for the revamped 10-over competition. Suri has already demonstrated his capabilities by successfully dismissing Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, a prominent young batter, during the Under-19 Asia Cup last December.

Suri recalled meticulously preparing to bowl to Sooryavanshi, even watching his videos and visualizing taking his wicket. "Manifestation is probably the biggest key in life," Suri stated. During their encounter at the ICC Academy in Dubai, Suri managed to get Sooryavanshi dropped on the second ball he bowled. Although Sooryavanshi went on to score 171 runs from 95 balls, Suri limited him to just one six and one boundary off his bowling before ultimately dismissing him in his penultimate over. "For a month I had been preparing to get him out," Suri explained, detailing his strategic approach to bowling lengths that frustrated Sooryavanshi, leading to the crucial wicket. "It was a great feeling to get him out."

Looking ahead, Suri will participate in the U19 Asia Cup in Oman next month before joining the Abu Dhabi T10. He described his draft experience with the UAE Bulls, where he will play alongside established IPL stars like Kieron Pollard and Sunil Narine, as a moment of pure elation. "I was watching the auction, and I just jumped with joy," he shared, recounting his excited reaction and subsequent prayers of gratitude.

Suri also spoke about his brother, Tanish Suri, a 21-year-old wicketkeeper-batter and a rising talent in UAE cricket, who was on tour in the United States with the UAE senior team. While Uddish was drafted for the T10, Tanish secured a $10,000 deal in the DP World ILT20, though his participation may be affected by national team commitments. "Unluckily, I did go unsold, but my brother got picked," Uddish mentioned regarding the ILT20 auction, where significant investments were made in UAE players. He recounted witnessing his brother's selection during a university class and immediately calling him afterward.

A shared dream for both brothers is to represent the UAE senior team together. "That is both of our dreams together," Uddish affirmed. He believes playing alongside his brother would be a profound experience, fulfilling their parents' aspirations and enhancing their on-field communication and synergy. "It would also help because we can communicate with each other. I would rather talk to my brother rather than talking to someone else because my comfort zone is with him. He knows where my strengths lie and my weaknesses lie."
