Paris Saint-Germain faces a significant triple injury setback following their impressive Champions League victory against Barcelona. Star players Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Ousmane Dembele, and captain Marquinhos have all been sidelined and will be unavailable for the coming weeks.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has been diagnosed with an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear in his right knee, an injury that is expected to keep him out of action for several months. The club confirmed in a statement, "Having suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during yesterday’s match against FC Barcelona, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is set to undergo surgery in the coming days." Kvaratskhelia sustained the injury early in the second half after landing awkwardly while making a tackle, appearing to be in severe pain as he clutched his knee.

Forward Ousmane Dembele and captain Marquinhos both suffered thigh muscle injuries during the match on Tuesday. Dembele, who was last year's Ballon d'Or winner, is reported to have a left thigh injury, while Marquinhos has a right thigh injury. Both are expected to miss several weeks of play.

Dembele pulled up clutching the back of his left thigh in the 19th minute of the game after a run down the left flank. Kvaratskhelia and the 32-year-old Marquinhos were substituted in the 60th minute at the Parc des Princes, where PSG secured a 4-2 victory, marking their third consecutive win in the competition.

PSG coach Luis Enrique has managed Dembele's playing time in the French league, having used him sparingly last season and resting him twice in Ligue 1 this campaign. The France international, who scored six goals at the World Cup, has a history of injuries, struggling with leg muscle issues last season and at his previous club, Barcelona. The 2024-25 season saw Dembele play 50 games overall, a career first. Kvaratskhelia also experienced an ankle injury last season.

PSG is scheduled to host Lyon in Ligue 1 on Sunday, with both teams currently level on points at the top of the league standings.
