In an unusual and significant move, the United States has issued a high-level security warning for its citizens across 12 Middle Eastern countries, citing elevated risks of potential attacks targeting American interests. U.S. embassies throughout the region simultaneously released security alerts, advising American nationals in Israel, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Yemen, and Iran to exercise extreme caution.

The advisories warned of possible flight cancellations, airspace closures, and severe disruptions to travel, all stemming from escalating military tensions involving Iran and the Houthi movement in Yemen. The advisory, which encompasses all twelve nations, cautioned that hostilities could rapidly spread beyond their immediate areas and strongly recommended that individuals establish advance contingency plans.

According to the statement, Iran and its affiliated groups may target U.S. assets, associated sites, and American citizens globally, including corporate entities and foreign-based institutions.

In Saudi Arabia, the U.S. Embassy highlighted a complex security environment, noting that Iranian-backed Houthis have conducted hostilities against the Kingdom. These actions have included strikes on civilian airports and critical infrastructure, leading to civilian casualties and significant transport disruptions. The advisory reiterated concerns about potential threats to American businesses and institutions worldwide.

The U.S. Embassy in Qatar urged citizens to closely monitor official updates and local news, avoid demonstrations and large gatherings, and comply with local security guidelines. Qatar Airways announced the suspension of its flights to and from Riyadh and Dammam until October 24, and reduced its daily services to Jeddah from seven flights to four.
