Abu Dhabi-based G42 has entered into an initial agreement with both public and private entities in Greece to explore the development of artificial intelligence infrastructure within the country. This pact was part of a larger package of 18 memorandums of understanding, agreements, and commercial partnerships, collectively valued at €12.75 billion ($14.3 billion), finalized between the UAE and Greece during an official visit to Greece by Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. The signings took place at the UAE-Greece Strategic Forum held in Athens.

G42, along with five of its subsidiary companies, also secured initial agreements with Greek organizations focused on government services, life sciences, and smart cities, as stated in a company release on Friday. Mansoor Al Mansoori, CEO of G42 International, commented that these agreements represent a significant step in expanding G42’s intelligence grid throughout Europe, combining advanced compute infrastructure with established AI platforms for both governmental and industrial applications. The intelligence grid encompasses the entire AI value chain, from data centers and advanced computing power to cloud infrastructure and sector-specific solutions.

Under the agreements with Greece's Copelouzos Group and Khazna Data Centres, Core42 will be involved in exploring the establishment of an AI factory in Greece. Khazna will spearhead the development of the physical infrastructure, while Core42 will provide the necessary cloud and AI compute capabilities to support organizations across various sectors, including banking, telecommunications, shipping, and government. Christos Copelouzos, CEO of Copelouzos Group, highlighted that the deal enhances Greece's standing as a key digital and energy hub in Southeastern Europe, further contributing to the digital transformation of the Greek economy, attracting new investments, and generating high-skilled employment opportunities.

G42 has been actively assisting nations in building their domestic AI capabilities. Previously, in February, G42 signed a framework agreement with a Vietnamese consortium to foster sovereign AI capabilities and cloud infrastructure development across Vietnam.

Urban Planning and Life Sciences Initiatives:

G42’s subsidiary, Presight, will collaborate with Greece’s Ministry of Digital Governance to investigate the application of AI-powered analytics and real-time intelligence for urban mobility and municipal operations. Initially, this collaboration will concentrate on utilizing agentic AI to aid in municipal waste management and water network monitoring through advanced analytics, according to G42. Thomas Pramotedham, CEO of Presight, noted the immense daily data generated by cities, emphasizing that its true value lies in transforming this information into actionable intelligence to improve urban functionality and residents' quality of life.

Concurrently, Inception42 will partner with Greece’s Ministry of Digital Governance and Artificial Intelligence to implement agentic AI across government and educational sectors. Key areas of focus include employing AI-powered tools to assist in cabinet meetings, track progress on governmental priorities, train government officials in AI agent utilization, and develop AI tutors and learning platforms to enhance educational outcomes.

Furthermore, the tech-enabled healthcare company M42 has signed an initial pact with Athens LifeTech Park (ALTP) for a partnership focused on life sciences research, genomics sequencing infrastructure, population genomics, clinical development, and the integration of institutional biobanks. This agreement aims to support biomarker research in critical areas such as oncology, rare genetic diseases, and neuroscience. The pact also establishes a bilateral program providing UAE life sciences start-ups with a base at the ALTP Incubator for entry into the European market, while offering Greek and European ventures access to the UAE through M42’s network.
