Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has confirmed that the final bridge of the World Trade Centre roundabout project is set to open this Friday. This significant addition to the emirate's infrastructure is a 1km-long bridge designed to accommodate 3,000 vehicles per hour.

The RTA announced on Sunday that the new bridge is expected to slash travel times between Al Majlis Street and 2nd December Street from the current six minutes down to just one minute. This development marks the completion of five bridges, totaling 5km in length, as part of the overall project. The RTA anticipates that this upgrade will benefit approximately 500,000 residents and visitors.

Furthermore, the average delay at the intersection is projected to decrease substantially, from 12 minutes to a mere 90 seconds. The total investment for this extensive road work is estimated to exceed Dh696 million.

Mattar Al Tayer, director general of the RTA, stated, "The completion of the World Trade Centre Roundabout Development Project is in line with the directives of the wise leadership to continue upgrading Dubai’s road infrastructure, improve traffic flow on Sheikh Zayed Road and enhance connectivity between the emirate’s leading economic and commercial centres." He added, "The project will also increase road network capacity to keep pace with Dubai’s rapid population, urban and economic growth, reinforce its global leadership in business, investment and tourism, and provide an integrated, sustainable mobility system that reinforce the emirate’s competitiveness, facilitates travel for residents and visitors, and enhances quality of life."

The World Trade Centre Roundabout Development Project will work in tandem with the Al Mustaqbal Street Development Project, which is scheduled for completion in 2027. The Al Mustaqbal Street project involves the construction of bridges and tunnels spanning 1,500 metres and the expansion of the street to four lanes in each direction. Mr Al Tayer highlighted that both projects are integral components of a broader strategy to enhance key road corridors in the area. He further emphasized the strategic importance of the World Trade Centre Roundabout Development Project, noting its crucial location on Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai's primary traffic artery, and its role in connecting vital road networks with key economic, commercial, and residential zones.
