Jordan's Queen Rania has extended her deepest sympathies to the families of the nine individuals who tragically lost their lives in a recent attack targeting a Greek Orthodox church in the Karak governorate. On Sunday, members of the royal family, including Queen Rania, Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah, Princess Rajwa, and Princess Salma, visited the village of Hamoud for the funeral services, as reported by Jordan's state-run Petra agency. The funeral was held at the very church where the devastating attack occurred on Friday.

During their visit to the church, Crown Prince Hussein conveyed the profound condolences of King Abdullah II to the bereaved families. King Abdullah had previously denounced the attack as an act of "terrorism." The Ministry of Interior confirmed on Monday morning that three suspects have been apprehended in connection with the incident. Earlier, on Friday, King Abdullah visited those injured in the attack while they were in the hospital, with footage from the state-owned broadcaster showing him checking on their condition.

Queen Rania was seen offering prayers for the victims and comforting their grieving family members. This incident marks the most significant attack against Jordan's Christian minority since the 1950s. The deceased were all men, including a doctor and a dentist, with most belonging to the prominent Halasah clan, a well-known Christian family in Jordan. It remains unclear why only eight of the nine victims were buried in Hamoud. The attack in Karak, situated approximately 100km south of Amman, took place during a funeral service.
