World-renowned Indian spiritual leader and humanitarian Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, known to millions as Gurudev, is undertaking a four-day cultural and spiritual journey across Egypt from October 25 to 28. The program, titled “A Journey to Egypt with Gurudev,” combines historical exploration with inner reflection, guiding participants through iconic sites such as the Pyramids of Giza, the temples of Luxor, and a Nile voyage. This retreat offers a space for meditation, music, and discussions aimed at fostering daily tranquility and human connection.
As the founder of the Art of Living Foundation, established in 1981, Ravi Shankar has dedicated over four decades to promoting global peace and self-discovery. The foundation has grown into an international educational and non-profit organization operating in over 180 countries. It offers breathwork and meditation courses alongside community development and humanitarian relief initiatives, including expanding access to education, supporting women's empowerment, rehabilitating inmates, and providing aid in disaster-stricken and conflict-affected regions. Environmental stewardship is also a key focus, with projects in river restoration and sustainable agriculture.
Ravi Shankar is also recognized for his peace-building efforts, acting as a mediator in global conflict zones, notably facilitating dialogues in Colombia. He was honored with the Padma Vibhushan, India's second-highest civilian award, in 2016 for his service to humanity. His work has impacted over a billion people globally, with more than 41,000 certified instructors trained and an online community exceeding 26 million followers. He has personally designed over 50 meditation and self-development programs.
Following his engagements in Egypt, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar will travel to Munich, Germany, from October 30 to November 3 for breathing and meditation workshops, concluding with a Happiness Festival.
