Apple has confirmed display problems affecting a portion of its newly released foldable iPhone Duo, just days after its market debut. The tech giant stated that customers encountering these issues will receive replacement devices. "We are aware of an issue impacting the inner display on a small number of iPhone Duo units," a statement from Apple revealed, without specifying the cause of the defect. "If users experience issues with their iPhone Duo display, they should contact AppleCare for a replacement," the company advised.

This announcement follows customer complaints regarding damaged screens on the iPhone Duo, with some early purchasers reporting cracks and display failures shortly after using Apple's first foldable smartphone. Images shared online appear to indicate that the damage is primarily concentrated around the device's hinge, showing vertical cracks down the center and bright lines extending across the right side of the screen. Some affected units have also reportedly exhibited dead pixels, raising concerns about the durability of the foldable display, a key feature of the iPhone Duo.

Apple began shipping the iPhone Duo last week amidst significant demand, with initial online orders selling out rapidly and customers forming queues at stores globally. However, reports of damaged screens surfaced over the weekend, with social media users posting images of cracks and bright lines on the inner display, particularly along the central hinge.

These complaints add to the challenges Apple faces as it enters the competitive foldable smartphone market, which already includes established players like Samsung and Google, both of which possess extensive experience with flexible display technology. The iPhone Duo is priced between Dh8,499 and Dh13,599 in the UAE, with extended shipping times attributed to the overwhelming demand.
