Hurghada International Airport achieved a historic milestone on Saturday, October 31, 2026, recording its highest daily operating rate ever with 389 takeoff and landing operations. This figure represents an increase of 31 movements compared to its previous record set in November 2025, underscoring the growing demand for Egyptian tourist destinations.

The airport facilitated approximately 67,000 passengers on this record day, a significant rise from the 56,641 passengers recorded on the previous record-holding day. Arrivals saw a substantial increase of 24.1 percent, reaching 33,500, while departures also rose by 13 percent to 33,500.

Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh al-Hefny commented that these record rates are a testament to the increasing international interest in Egypt's tourist cities, particularly with the commencement of the winter season. He emphasized the aviation sector's crucial role in bolstering inbound tourism.

Al-Hefny further explained that the ministry is committed to prioritizing the development of airport infrastructure to effectively manage the escalating air traffic and deliver efficient services while upholding stringent safety standards.

Egyptian Airports Company Chairman Wael al-Nashar highlighted that this achievement reflects the airport's robust operational efficiency and its preparedness to manage high passenger volumes, ensuring the regularity of flights and streamlined travel processes. Al-Nashar added that the company is actively enhancing its technical and human resources at tourist airports to adeptly handle anticipated increases in passenger numbers.

This record-breaking performance coincides with the peak of the winter tourist season, which is experiencing a surge in international flights to Red Sea destinations, thereby supporting the government's ongoing efforts to advance the tourism sector.
