Interest in fixed-line internet packages in Egypt has surged following the National Telecom Regulatory Authority's (NTRA) decision to double the capacity of the base package from 50 GB to 100 GB. This change, effective Sunday, November 1, maintains the subscription price at LE 150 before tax.

The prices for fixed-line internet packages in Egypt are determined by data capacity and connection speed. Telecommunications companies, including Telecom Egypt (WE), offer various options to cater to user needs.

Prices from WE (Telecom Egypt) for speeds up to 30 Mbps:

  • 100 GB plan: LE 150 per month
  • 150 GB plan: LE 260 per month
  • 200 GB plan: LE 330 per month
  • 250 GB plan: LE 395 per month
  • 300 GB plan: LE 460 per month
  • 400 GB plan: LE 580 per month
  • 500 GB plan: LE 660 per month
  • 750 GB plan: LE 925 per month
  • 1500 GB plan: LE 1650 per month

Starting Sunday, the NTRA's decision to increase the capacity of basic fixed-line internet packages by 100 percent, from 50 GB to 100 GB, takes effect without any alteration to the LE 150 subscription price (before tax).

This initiative by the NTRA aims to ease financial burdens on citizens and enhance their internet usage capabilities, recognizing the increasing dependence on digital services for education, work, communication, and entertainment.

The 100% increase in monthly data capacity offers greater flexibility for users, enabling families to meet their digital requirements, such as remote work or accessing e-government services, without incurring extra costs for exceeding their base data allowance. This move aligns with the state's strategic goals to advance the telecommunications and information technology sector and improve the quality of digital services provided to citizens, addressing the growing demand for fixed-line internet.

The implementation of this decision follows directives from the NTRA to telecommunications companies and fixed-line internet providers, in line with recommendations from the “Egypt 2026” forum, as announced by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.
