Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, has launched a new nationwide campaign, the Annual Government Challenge, urging government workers to develop innovative solutions to elevate UAE services. Announced during UAE Innovation Month, the initiative aims to harness the expertise of the nation's talent to drive progress. Initially, the challenge will concentrate on advancing the use of assistive artificial intelligence.
Sheikh Mohammed announced on X that the top nine government projects and teams making a significant impact on service improvement will be recognized. "A new national initiative through which we aim to encourage government cadres and talents to innovate bold new solutions that create a real impact in our services, operations, and government projects," he stated. "And we begin with the first challenge in the field of assistive artificial intelligence. we will honor the top nine government projects and teams. We want unconventional ideas, solutions that make a difference, and projects that elevate government work to new levels."
This initiative is part of the UAE's ongoing commitment to promoting the safe and responsible integration of AI within the government. Previously, in May, the UAE revealed a plan to train 80,000 government employees in AI agents, with the goal of having half of government services delivered by AI within two years. This ambitious training program, described as the largest of its kind by the UAE government, will focus on enhancing AI capabilities across various levels, from leadership to the general workforce.
A dedicated digital platform utilizing Agentic AI tools will be developed to provide personalized learning paths for federal employees. The project intends to leverage AI agents—autonomous AI models capable of decision-making with minimal supervision—to transform government operations by redesigning policies and processes, and enabling smart systems to proactively reduce costs and boost productivity.
