Ballon d’Or winner Harry Kane has officially extended his contract with Bayern Munich through June 2029, the Bundesliga club confirmed on Thursday. Kane, who joined Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023, expressed his contentment with the move, stating, “I feel right at home at FC Bayern.”
During his tenure so far, Kane has been instrumental in helping the German giants secure two Bundesliga titles, the German Cup, and two German Super Cups. The prolific 33-year-old striker has an impressive record of 156 goals in 161 appearances across all competitions for Bayern. His exceptional performance was further recognized when he won the Ballon d’Or last week, becoming the first Englishman to achieve this since Michael Owen in 2001.
“I love the club, the fans and the city of Munich. We have a fantastic team and, in Vincent Kompany, a fantastic manager,” Kane added. “It makes me very proud to be part of this club. My whole family is very happy here. I was keen to stay. I’m now looking forward to the future and I want to win many more titles with this great club.”
Despite persistent speculation linking him with a return to England, where he is 47 goals away from Alan Shearer’s Premier League record of 260, Kane stated in August that the Premier League no longer held the same appeal as his current career path in Germany. Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen lauded Kane’s impact, noting, “Since joining us in 2023, he has achieved extraordinary things with his goals, his influence on the game and as a role model both on and off the pitch. His contract extension is a commitment to FC Bayern and to a story that is far from over.”
While financial details were not disclosed, German media reports suggest the extension represents the most lucrative contract in Bayern's history, underscoring a long-term commitment to their star England captain. Kane has consistently finished as the Bundesliga’s top scorer in each of his seasons with Bayern and was named Germany’s Footballer of the Year in 2026. He has also earned the European Golden Shoe twice and captained England to a third-place finish at the recent World Cup.
