The Giza Traffic Department has announced a temporary, two-day complete closure on a significant section of the Lt. Gen. Kamal Amer Axis. This closure is necessary for the installation of steel girders required for a new pedestrian bridge. According to a statement released by the Ministry of Interior on Thursday, the affected area includes the southbound lanes heading towards al-Moneib, specifically in the vicinity of Bashtil Railway Station. The shutdown is scheduled to commence at 1:00 AM on Friday, November 6, and will conclude at 9:00 PM on Saturday, November 7.
To mitigate traffic disruptions, authorities have established specific detour routes for motorists traveling from the Ring Road (Western Arc) towards al-Moneib. Drivers will be guided to turn right onto the side service road of the Kamal Amer Axis, utilizing a newly constructed opening in the side barriers. Vehicles will proceed along this detour for approximately 150 meters before making a left turn through another side opening to rejoin the main road beyond the construction zone.
