Arsenal kicked off their Premier League title defence in style, securing a commanding 3-0 win over Coventry at the Emirates Stadium on Friday.
Mikel Arteta’s side asserted their dominance early, with Kai Havertz opening the scoring in the first half. Bukayo Saka soon added a second, before captain Martin Odegaard sealed the masterclass with a goal shortly after the interval.
The champions showed no signs of slowing down following their triumph last season. New signing Ezri Konsa was presented to the fans ahead of kickoff following his £51 million ($69m) move from Aston Villa, while Greek winger Christos Tzolis also impressed on his first league start for Arsenal.
Frank Lampard’s Coventry side struggled to cope with Arsenal's relentless pressing in their first Premier League appearance since 2001. Despite a celebratory atmosphere from the sellout 60,000 crowd, Arsenal showed no mercy as they comfortably claimed all three points to start the new campaign.
