LuLu Group Signs Deal for Major New Hypermarket in Abu Dhabi's Al Shahama, Set to Open by End of 2027

A significant new LuLu hypermarket is slated to open in Abu Dhabi's Al Shahama area by the close of 2027. The agreement for this expansive retail space was formalized by Sheikh Suroor bin Mohammed and LuLu Group chairman Yusuff Ali Musaliam Abdul Kader, as announced by the Abu Dhabi Media Office on Friday. This accord, established between the proprietor of Maqam International Holding Company and the LuLu Group chairman, will facilitate the development of a hypermarket exceeding 210,000 square feet within the Abu Dhabi community.

The project's anticipated launch in 2027 aligns with the UAE's 56th Eid Al Etihad celebrations. The new hypermarket is intended to serve the growing population of Al Shahama and its surrounding vicinities. Sunad Real Estate Management, a division of Maqam International Holding Company, will oversee the project's development, with Bunyan Engineering Consultancy supervising the construction activities to be undertaken by Benaa Al Mostaqbal Contracting.

Mr. Abdul Kader highlighted that this initiative underscores LuLu Group's enduring commitment to Abu Dhabi, a relationship that commenced in 1980. He emphasized the pivotal role the emirate has played in the group's sustained growth and considerable success over the decades. Having established itself as one of the region's largest retail operators since its inception in Abu Dhabi over forty years ago, LuLu Group's presence in Al Shahama further solidifies this bond. The introduction of a major retail outlet to this developing residential locale, prior to a significant national observance, marks a strategic expansion.
