Manchester United staged a remarkable late comeback, scoring twice in extra time to snatch a point in a dramatic 4-4 draw against Aston Villa at Old Trafford. Michael Carrick's side appeared to be heading for defeat at 4-2 as the match entered added time, but late goals from Joshua Zirkzee and Patrick Dorgu secured a thrilling tie.

Despite the draw, United head into the international break in the Premier League relegation zone, though the late surge has restored some hope and pride. This follows a midweek boost for manager Carrick, whose team fought back from two goals down to defeat AS Roma 3-2 in the Uefa Champions League.

The encounter against Villa started disastrously for United, with the visitors scoring twice within the opening five minutes. However, a Bruno Fernandes penalty and a Youri Tielemans equalizer brought United back into the game. The second half saw United falter as Diogo Dalot conceded a penalty for a foul on Alysson, which John McGinn converted in the 48th minute. Leon Goretzka then extended Villa's lead five minutes later with a simple tap-in following defensive lapses from United.

Despite the setback, United showed resilience. Zirkzee ignited hope with a stoppage-time goal, and Dorgu completed the comeback by heading home after Aston Villa goalkeeper Zion Suzuki mishandled a corner.

Post-match, United forward Matheus Cunha emphasized the team's need to address early defensive frailties. "After the other night we talked a lot about how not to concede goals and then change our mentality to come again. We did it again, conceded goals," Cunha told Sky Sports. "We can't do that. We need to play like Man United and go forward and create chances, play with more courage. After we concede goals we show character but if we do this before we can win much more games."

In other Premier League action, Brighton & Hove Albion continued their impressive start to the season with a 2-0 home victory over 10-man Brentford. Goals from Diego Gomez and a Pascal Gross penalty secured the win, moving Fabian Huerzeler's side above Manchester City into second place. Brighton are enjoying their best-ever start to a top-flight season and head into the break with 22 points, trailing Arsenal who have 27 points after their win against Hull City.

Brentford striker Thiago received a red card after a VAR review following an incident with Chema Andres. Brighton took the lead in the 15th minute through Gomez's strike, and Gross doubled their advantage from the penalty spot in the 42nd minute after Keane Lewis-Potter fouled Luka Vuskovic.

Elsewhere, Liverpool secured a comfortable 3-1 away win at Crystal Palace, moving into fourth place. Meanwhile, Chelsea suffered a surprise 1-0 defeat away to Sunderland. Eddie Nketiah scored a late consolation penalty for Crystal Palace, who are now bottom of the table. Sunderland's victory came courtesy of an Enzo Le Fee penalty in the 36th minute after Chelsea defender Levi Colwill was penalized for a foul on Brian Brobbey.
