Egyptian swimmer Farida Osman claimed the bronze medal in the women’s 50m butterfly event at the Taranto 2026 Mediterranean Games, clocking in at 26.32 seconds to secure Egypt's second medal of the competition.
This achievement follows Abdelrahman Sameh winning the gold medal in the men’s 50m butterfly with a time of 23.18 seconds, which marked Egypt’s first gold of the Games and set a new competition record.
Hosted in the Italian city of Taranto, the 20th edition of the Mediterranean Games runs through September 3, featuring 3,803 athletes representing 26 countries. The Egyptian delegation is participating across 23 different sports as the nation aims to build on its rich history in the event, where Egypt currently ranks sixth all-time with 620 total medals.
