Abu Dhabi is preparing to host the very first EuroLeague Basketball SuperCup next month. Scheduled for September 18-19, the four-team tournament will take place at Etihad Arena on Yas Island, marking the official opening of the new EuroLeague season.
The competition will feature Olympiacos, Fenerbahce, Real Madrid, and Dubai Basketball battling for the inaugural title. This event further reinforces Abu Dhabi's status as a major regional hub for basketball, following the NBA's preseason games in the UAE capital since 2022 and the successful hosting of the EuroLeague Final Four in May 2025 at Etihad Arena, where Fenerbahce claimed the trophy over Monaco.
Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, director general for tourism at the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, noted that the tournament represents another significant milestone in the long-term partnership with EuroLeague Basketball. Dejan Bodiroga, president of EuroLeague Basketball, added that the launch opens an exciting new chapter for European club basketball.
The tournament schedule includes two matches daily. On Friday, September 18, Olympiacos will play Fenerbahce at 6pm UAE time, followed by Dubai Basketball against Real Madrid at 9pm. The concluding day on Saturday will feature the third-place game at 6pm and the historic SuperCup final at 9pm. Tickets and two-day packages are currently available for purchase.
