Former NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom was ejected from a WNBA game in Chicago, Illinois, on August 23, 2026, after engaging in a verbal altercation with Natasha Cloud of the Chicago Sky during their matchup against the Indiana Fever.

Sitting courtside, Kanter Freedom stood up and approached the court with his arms outstretched after Cloud began yelling and pointing at him during an Indiana timeout in the third quarter. Security personnel and game officials quickly intervened, separating the two before Kanter Freedom was escorted from the arena. At the time, Kanter Freedom was wearing a black T-shirt displaying the message: “WOMAN noun. Adult human female.”

Following the game, which ended in a 113-90 victory for the Indiana Fever, Natasha Cloud spoke with team and league security but chose not to address the press directly. She later shared a supportive statement on social media emphasizing inclusion and protection for transgender individuals within her community.

Kanter Freedom also took to social media following the incident to comment on his removal from the venue, while Chicago Sky coach Tyler Marsh addressed the situation in his postgame news conference, praising Cloud and emphasizing that spectators should focus primarily on the quality of basketball played in the league.

The incident occurs amid ongoing discussions surrounding policies and advocacy within women's professional basketball regarding transgender athletes and eligibility criteria.
