Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese secured her WNBA-leading 27th double-double of the season on a basket with 13.9 seconds left in the game. Reese broke the WNBA single-game rebounding record with 26 boards, while also shattering the league's single-season rebounding record, as the Atlanta Dream defeated the Los Angeles Sparks 78-71 on Monday.

Reese surpassed Chamique Holdsclaw’s record of 24 rebounds, which was previously set on May 23, 2003, for the Washington Mystics. With this stellar performance, the Atlanta Dream star reached 458 rebounds this season, placing her seven boards above A’ja Wilson’s mark set in 2024.

“Last time I was here, I didn’t miss any shots. Tonight I couldn’t hit (anything), so I knew I was going to be able to get them on the rebounding side,” Reese shared during the postgame show. “I just want to be there for my team. Offensively, defensively, whatever it takes to win.”

Reese finished the matchup with 11 points and secured her 27th double-double of the campaign in the closing seconds. “That’s a talent,” noted Dream guard Allisha Gray. “I’m just in awe watching her rebound.”

As a three-time WNBA All-Star, Reese previously established a WNBA rookie record with 13.1 rebounds per game alongside an all-time league record of 15 consecutive double-doubles with Chicago in 2024. Having led the league in rebounding during her first two seasons, she continues to dominate at 12.0 rebounds per game this year.

The Atlanta Dream have now claimed nine consecutive victories over the Los Angeles Sparks. In Monday's contest, Allisha Gray led Atlanta (25-13) with 20 points, while teammate Rhyne Howard contributed 18 points to surpass 3,000 career points. Additionally, Gray set a new Atlanta franchise record for field goals in a single season with 247.

For Los Angeles (13-25), Nneka Ogwumike delivered a strong performance with 27 points and 16 rebounds, while Dearica Hamby and Cameron Brink each added 15 points.
