Brendan Rodgers Sets Sights on Saudi Pro League Title Challenge with Al Qadsiah

Al Qadsiah manager Brendan Rodgers enters his first full campaign in the Saudi Pro League with ambitions of building upon last season's impressive fourth-place finish. Rodgers arrived in the kingdom last December to succeed the dismissed Michel, taking his first managerial post since leaving Scottish club Celtic two months prior. Al Qadsiah chief executive James Bisgrove hailed the appointment as a landmark moment that perfectly aligned with the club's long-term vision.

Rodgers' extensive coaching resume includes leading Liverpool to a second-place finish in the Premier League, securing Leicester City's first-ever FA Cup, and capturing 11 major trophies across two stints with Celtic. His arrival at Al Qadsiah sparked an immediate turnaround, highlighted by a club-record 17-match unbeaten run that secured the team's first-ever qualification for the AFC Champions League Elite.

Reflecting on his tenure so far, Rodgers praised the professionalism and mentality of his squad. Following a successful pre-season training camp in Spain, the team has opened the new campaign with two victories from three matches, including a 2-0 win against Neom featuring a debut goal from Tijjani Reijnders and a penalty by Mateo Retegui.

The squad was further bolstered during the summer transfer window with the additions of Souffian El Karouani, Tijjani Reijnders, Ahmed Al Siyahi, and Sultan Haroun, complementing existing stars such as Nacho, Mateo Retegui, and Julian Quinones. Acknowledging the strength of reigning champions Al Nassr, Al Hilal, and Al Ahli Saudi, Rodgers remains confident in his team's ability to challenge the elite. Additionally, Rodgers highlighted the impressive quality and technical ability of local Saudi Arabian players, notably praising 2024-25 SPL Young Player of the Season Musab Al Juwayr.
