Former Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova has taken her case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in an effort to overturn a four-year ban resulting from a missed doping test last year. The Court of Arbitration for Sport confirmed on Tuesday that it has received the appeal, though a hearing has not yet been scheduled.

The suspension, issued in June by the International Tennis Integrity Agency, stems from an incident in December when the Czech player reportedly did not submit a sample after being notified by a doping control officer during an out-of-competition test at her home. Under the current ruling, Vondrousova's ban is set to conclude on June 21, 2030, when she will be 30 years old.

Explaining the situation in April, the 27-year-old stated that she had reached a breaking point following months of physical and mental stress. She described the officer's arrival at 8:15pm to demand an immediate test as a significant intrusion into her privacy. Maintaining her innocence, Vondrousova has consistently stated that she never doped, pointing out that a subsequent test administered three days after the December 3 incident returned negative results.

Vondrousova, a former world number six, has been inactive since withdrawing from the Adelaide International in January due to a shoulder injury, causing her ranking to slide to world number 153. Her career accolades include the 2023 Wimbledon title, a runner-up finish at the 2019 French Open, and a silver medal at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
