Liverpool have reached an agreement for a package potentially worth £123 million to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola. The 23-year-old is scheduled to undergo his medical examinations in Liverpool over the weekend, though the transfer will not be finalized in time for him to feature in Saturday's Premier League fixture against Nottingham Forest.

Paris Saint-Germain initially placed a £145 million valuation on the France international, but the Reds successfully negotiated a deal consisting of an initial £106 million alongside £17 million in achievable add-ons.

The arrival of Barcola, a versatile wide forward who prefers playing on the left flank, could cast uncertainty over Cody Gakpo's future at Anfield. The Netherlands international had previously attracted interest from Tottenham Hotspur before that club secured the signings of Savio and Omar Marmoush from Manchester City earlier in the week. This sequence of events has potentially freed up a roster spot at Manchester City, who are now linked with an interest in Cody Gakpo as well.

Addressing the media ahead of Saturday's match against Nottingham Forest, Reds manager Andoni Iraola admitted he "cannot guarantee anything" regarding Cody Gakpo's future while expressing his desire to retain the 27-year-old forward.

"Cody has performed exceptionally well since returning from the World Cup and his break, showing a fantastic attitude. I hope we can maintain him at that standard because his impact on our matches has been immense," Andoni Iraola stated.

Prior to this breakthrough, Liverpool experienced failed pursuits in their attempts to acquire wingers Yankuba Minteh from Brighton and Ismailia Sarr from Crystal Palace.

Bradley Barcola originally moved to Paris Saint-Germain from Lyon in 2023 for a reported fee of £38.5 million. During his time there, he has collected three Ligue 1 titles, two Uefa Champions League titles, two French Cups, a Uefa Super Cup, and a Fifa Intercontinental Cup. Furthermore, he played a prominent role for France during the summer World Cup, netting three goals as Les Bleus secured a fourth-place finish.

Capable of playing on either flank, Bradley Barcola is expected to help cover the attacking void created by Mohamed Salah's transfer to Trabzonspor. He also shares a national team connection with Liverpool striker Hugo Ekitike, who remains sidelined for several months due to an ongoing Achilles injury.

Once this transfer is officially completed and factoring in the maximum potential add-ons for Bradley Barcola, Liverpool's total summer expenditure will approach £215 million. The Anfield club have already invested £55 million to bring in defender Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes, £34 million for Osasuna winger Victor Munoz, £2.6 million for Austria Vienna defender Ifeanyi Ndukwe, and secured Ronald Araujo on a loan agreement from Barcelona.
