Reigning F1 world champion Lando Norris has secured his long-term future with McLaren by signing a contract extension that runs until 2030. The announcement on Saturday follows his recent victory at the Dutch Grand Prix, marking back-to-back wins that have revived the British driver's hopes of defending his world title. According to McLaren, the new deal also features an option for a multi-year extension past 2030.

At 26 years old, Norris secured McLaren's first drivers' championship since Lewis Hamilton in 2008 during the previous season. Having joined McLaren's junior programme at 17, Norris made his F1 debut in 2019. Expressing his commitment, Norris stated that McLaren is his home and emphasized the shared goal of continuing to win after successfully returning the team to the front of the grid.

Currently sitting fourth in the championship standings, Norris trails Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli by 83 points with 11 races remaining in the season. Meanwhile, teammate Oscar Piastri is signed to a deal running until at least 2028. Following early struggles with new rules, McLaren has shown a resurgence with an improved car, highlighted by recent wins in Hungary and the Netherlands.

Team principal Andrea Stella praised Norris as an exceptional driver and an integral part of the team's journey and success over the past nine years. Stella noted the strength and unity of the driver partnership alongside Oscar Piastri. As a special gift from the team, Norris will also receive one of the MCL39 cars he drove to capture his maiden F1 title last year.
