Former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has officially confirmed that his highly anticipated heavyweight showdown with fellow Briton Anthony Joshua will be hosted at New York City’s legendary Madison Square Garden.

While an exact date remains unannounced, the blockbuster bout is anticipated for November after both fighters finalized an agreement with Turki Alalshikh, the chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority.

“What a place, what a venue, what a fight,” Tyson Fury declared in a statement shared on Instagram, describing New York City as “the land of opportunity.” However, the announcement sparked backlash among fans in the comment section, who questioned the decision to stage an all-British clash in the United States rather than a historic venue like Wembley Stadium in the United Kingdom.

Tyson Fury, who celebrated his 38th birthday in August, boasts 36 professional victories, with his sole career defeats coming against Ukraine’s Oleksandr Usyk in 2024. After announcing his retirement in December 2024 following a loss to Oleksandr Usyk in a battle for three major world titles, Tyson Fury returned to the sport in January.

Initial negotiations for a bout between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury collapsed in 2021 when a US judge mandated that Tyson Fury fulfill a trilogy fight commitment against Deontay Wilder. As part of his preparation for the upcoming Anthony Joshua showdown, Tyson Fury recently secured a retirement victory against Polish opponent Mariusz Wach during a tune-up match in July at the Max Muay Thai Stadium in Pattaya, Thailand, in front of approximately 1,500 spectators.
