Hugh Jackman has expressed interest in joining fellow Hollywood star and friend Ryan Reynolds by purchasing a stake in an English football club. A long-time supporter of Norwich, his mother’s home city in the east of England, the Wolverine star revealed his intentions during a broadcast interview on Thursday.
While promoting his new movie, The Death of Robin Hood, Jackman told British broadcaster TalkSport that he is eager to discuss investing in the club, which is currently majority-owned by Mark Attanasio, the Milwaukee Brewers’ principal owner.
This potential move follows the success of Ryan Reynolds, who transformed Wrexham's global profile after acquiring the club alongside Rob McElhenney in 2021. With Norwich and Wrexham now competing as rivals in the English second-tier Championship, a Hollywood ownership derby could be on the horizon.
Although Wrexham has gained immense attention recently, Norwich boasts a more illustrious history, having last played in the Premier League four years ago and famously eliminating German powerhouse Bayern Munich in the 1993 UEFA Cup.
Expressing his loyalty to the team, Jackman stated, "Good on Ryan. You do your thing. I’m all about the Canaries," referencing Norwich’s nickname tied to their yellow and green uniform. Both Norwich and Wrexham are viewed as strong contenders for promotion to the Premier League this season, with Jackman praising the club's turnaround under Belgian coach Philippe Clement.
