Richarlison has been excluded from Tottenham's 25-man Premier League squad, further signaling his anticipated departure from the London club. The 29-year-old Brazilian striker is heavily linked with a transfer to Turkey, where Mohamed Salah's Trabzonspor has emerged as the frontrunner.
Although Trabzonspor has already had two bids turned down by Spurs, an improved offer is expected before the Super Lig transfer window slams shut on Friday evening.
Spurs manager Roberto De Zerbi confirmed earlier in the week that the player would not feature in his Premier League plans. Richarlison was previously granted permission to hold talks with Everton—the club he departed to join Spurs in 2022—though negotiations ultimately collapsed prior to the closure of the English transfer window on Tuesday.
As Tottenham's leading goalscorer last season with 12 goals, Richarlison played a vital role in helping the team narrowly avoid relegation on the final day. He featured in the starting lineup for the opening match of the campaign, a 3-0 defeat to Brentford, but was left out of the squad last Saturday for a 2-0 loss against Newcastle United. Addressing Richarlison's future after the match, De Zerbi stated, "I don't know. He said too many times he wants to leave."
Richarlison initially arrived at Spurs from Everton in July 2022 in a transfer potentially worth up to £60 million, including add-ons. While Tottenham has already rejected bids of £15 million and £20 million from Trabzonspor, reports indicate that the player has already agreed on personal terms with the Turkish club, with potential salary figures tripled.
Meanwhile, another player drawing attention from Turkish clubs is US international forward Folarin Balogun. Balogun's proposed move to Everton fell through on Tuesday after the English side attempted to renegotiate terms with Monaco following medical examination concerns. Ligue 1 club Monaco remains eager to offload the striker, whom they acquired from Arsenal for €30 million in 2023, while the Turkish and Saudi Arabian transfer windows remain open.
Monaco sporting director Thiago Scuro addressed the situation in a Wednesday news conference, noting that Balogun stepped away from the deal due to concerns over his treatment by Everton during the medical process. "We are still waiting for Balo to come back and to sit and discuss and to realise between us what is next," Scuro said. "We still have other markets open, which we are having discussions in different players, including Balo."
During his time in the principality, Balogun has netted 31 goals across 91 appearances and enjoyed a strong 2026 World Cup campaign with the US, scoring three goals in four matches. Balogun notably made headlines when US President Donald Trump directly appealed to Fifa to overturn a red card he received for kicking Bosnia's Tarik Muharemovic during their Round-of-32 fixture. Fifa ultimately granted the appeal, suspending his one-game ban and allowing him to play in the last-16 clash against Belgium, which Belgium won 4-1.
