Fenerbahce players Mason Greenwood and Matteo Guendouzi have faced disciplinary action, receiving suspensions and fines for their involvement in a chaotic brawl following the team's Champions League playoff second leg against Lyon.

Last month's 2-1 victory for Fenerbahce in France secured a 3-2 aggregate triumph for the Turkish side. However, the final whistle marked the beginning of a mass altercation involving Greenwood and Guendouzi—both former players of Lyon's fierce rivals Marseille—alongside players and coaching staff from both clubs.

According to a statement released by UEFA on Friday evening, former Arsenal midfielder Guendouzi has been handed a four-match UEFA club competition suspension. The governing body stated the ban was issued for "insulting others present at the match, provoking spectators and for violating the basic rules of decent conduct," noting that two of these matches carry a one-year probationary period.

Guendouzi was additionally ordered to pay a fine of 50,000 euros ($58,000) after being found guilty of directing an offensive gesture at Lyon supporters and inciting the post-match scuffle. Meanwhile, his English teammate Mason Greenwood, formerly of Manchester United, was issued a one-match suspended ban and fined 30,000 euros ($35,000) for "violating the basic rules of decent conduct."
