Civil Aviation Minister Sameh al-Hefny held a meeting on Friday, September 11, 2026, with International Finance Corporation (IFC) Regional Director for North Africa and the Horn of Africa Ary Naim, IFC Egypt Country Manager Saad Sabra, and IFC Infrastructure Projects Specialist Mohamed Mehni.

The discussion took place on the sidelines of the EIAS 2026 International Airshow and Space Exhibition in El Alamein city, located in northwestern Egypt. The officials reviewed the latest updates regarding the tendering procedures for the management, operation, and development of Hurghada International Airport through a public-private partnership (PPP) scheme.

Minister al-Hefny emphasized that the initiative aligns with the Egyptian state's ongoing directives to advance the civil aviation sector, elevate passenger services, and upgrade the overall travel experience. Furthermore, he commended the IFC for delivering technical and advisory assistance, emphasizing its global expertise in designing and executing public-private partnership projects.

In response, Ary Naim reaffirmed the IFC's dedication to sustaining its partnership with the Ministry of Civil Aviation. He pledged ongoing support for the project through its upcoming phases to ensure the tendering procedures are finalized according to international standards.
