Kazakhstan's Elena Rybakina celebrated with the winner's trophy after a stellar victory in the US Open women's singles final against Belarus's Aryna Sabalenka. Delivering a devastating performance, Rybakina dethroned the two-time defending champion with a 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 win to secure her third Grand Slam crown and rise to world number one.

The Russian-born Kazakh utilized her icy composure to snap Sabalenka’s 20-match winning streak at Flushing Meadows on Saturday, denying the Belarusian a chance to emulate Serena Williams and Chris Evert with three consecutive New York titles. Despite concerns over an ankle injury prior to the tournament, the 27-year-old added the US Open trophy to her Australian Open triumph and 2022 Wimbledon success.

The showdown at Arthur Ashe Stadium delivered a classic battle between the top two players in the rankings. Although Sabalenka brought late aggression, Rybakina remained unruffled to claim the $5.5m prize. Dressed in a striking yellow-and-black outfit, Rybakina displayed powerful groundstrokes as the pair met in their third Grand Slam final.

The second seed drew first blood to go ahead 3-2 after a Sabalenka double fault, prompting a frustrated code violation from the Belarusian. Sabalenka's irritation grew with missed opportunities, while Rybakina maintained her trademark calm to take the opening set.

A dip in Rybakina's performance during the second set allowed Sabalenka to fight back with brilliant winners and force a deciding set. However, Rybakina regained control in the third, establishing a commanding 5-2 lead before sealing a famous triumph at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
