The Association of Amateur Football Clubs of Cameroon (ACFAC) has officially requested an investigation into the Cameroonian Football Federation and its leader, Samuel Eto'o, in light of recent media reports concerning alleged corruption.
Reports indicate that Samuel Eto'o is facing accusations of improperly accepting funds from the Russian Football Union regarding an October 2023 international friendly match. According to statements from ACFAC, the Russian Football Union allegedly breached contractual agreements with FECAFOOT by depositing approximately 567,000 euros ($655,000) into an unauthorized bank account.
In response to these developments, the association revealed plans to pursue legal action against Samuel Eto'o within Cameroonian courts, alongside filing a separate legal complaint in Russia targeting the Russian Football Union.
This scrutiny follows Samuel Eto'o's public backing of FIFA President Gianni Infantino last month, where the former Barcelona and Inter Milan star defended FIFA President Gianni Infantino amid growing pressure for his resignation over a disputed World Cup sales strategy.
