Leading MMA bantamweight fighter Umar Nurmagomedov is gearing up to make his Real American Freestyle (RAF) debut at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. Hailing from the renowned Nurmagomedov family, Umar brings an impressive wrestling and grappling background from the UFC as he prepares to face Urijah Faber.
With a 20-2 win-loss record and seven submission wins in MMA, Umar will showcase his skills on November 14 on Yas Island. Tickets are currently available through Etihad Arena for the blockbuster event. The fight card is headlined by global combat sports superstar Khamzat Chimaev, who will lock horns with American Colby Covington for the RAF cruiserweight crossover title.
Umar, a native of Dagestan, is set to square off against Faber, a former MMA champion and the founder of Team Alpha Male who is returning for his third RAF match. The stacked card also features reigning RAF light heavyweight champion Kyle Snyder, who goes up against Shamil Erdogan. Snyder, the youngest American to win a senior world wrestling title, has dominated the past six months by defeating four fellow Olympic medallists.
Erdogan, a Dagestan-born Turkish athlete with a freestyle wrestling background and an unbeaten professional MMA record, will also make his promotional debut at the Abu Dhabi event. This inaugural showcase launches a historic five-year partnership between Real American Freestyle, the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), and the UAE Wrestling Federation, following previous international events in Tbilisi, Georgia and Moscow.
“Abu Dhabi is one of the premier destinations for combat sports, with the vision and infrastructure to deliver events that resonate globally,” said Chad Bronstein, CEO and co-founder of RAF. “This five-year partnership gives us the opportunity to make RAF Abu Dhabi a signature event and build something meaningful for athletes, fans and the region for years to come.”
