European football leaders are gathering in Berlin to strategize and find a viable candidate to challenge Gianni Infantino for the presidency of FIFA. The upcoming summit called by UEFA involves its 55 member federations and follows mounting tension over a controversial World Cup private investment plan proposed by Gianni Infantino.

Longstanding mistrust and the divisive sell-off deal have driven UEFA to take action, including plans for a criminal complaint in Switzerland regarding potential financial mismanagement. Additionally, legal steps have been initiated in the United States to gather evidence.

While UEFA general-secretary Theodore Theodoridis emphasizes the need to restore order at FIFA, the path forward remains challenging. Europe's 55 federations represent a significant portion of FIFA's 211 voting members, but Gianni Infantino has already secured substantial pledged support ahead of the March 18 election in Rabat, Morocco.

With a November 18 deadline approaching to enter the race, potential candidates such as Aleksander Ceferin, Victor Montagliani, Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, and Nasser Al-Khelaifi have faced speculation, though key leaders have distanced themselves from running. The Berlin summit will focus on discussing policy, strategy, international football competitions, and potential reforms for FIFA's leadership.
