Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala has shared that he is undergoing treatment for a “neurological dysfunction” following a terrifying second collapse during a match within a span of four days.

Musiala, 23, came on as a substitute before appearing dazed and needing urgent medical attention just six minutes into Bayern’s 4-2 friendly victory at Heidenheim on Tuesday. This occurrence followed closely behind a similar incident where he collapsed during Saturday’s 3-1 win against RB Leipzig in Munich, raising serious concerns regarding the health of the Germany international.

Musiala later took to Instagram to reassure his supporters, clarifying that medical professionals diagnosed him with “temporary, brief, but easily treatable absence seizures.”

“These can lead to the recent episodes, like the one against Leipzig or now in Heidenheim,” he stated. “I know they seem scary at first glance – but for me, they’re currently just part of my everyday life.”

“I'm receiving excellent medical treatment and am very optimistic. FC Bayern and my family and friends are always by my side and supporting me on this journey.”

Bayern sporting director Max Eberl confirmed the club's awareness of Musiala’s medical condition, noting that the midfielder would address the situation himself.

Previously, Musiala was sidelined for the first six months of last season after sustaining a broken ankle at the 2025 Club World Cup. He successfully returned to action for both Bayern and Germany, starting three of his country’s four matches at the 2026 World Cup.

In June, another notable football incident occurred when Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen collapsed during an international friendly against Ukraine at Nature Energy Park while Denmark held a 2–1 lead, briefly losing consciousness. Eriksen previously suffered a cardiac arrest during Euro 2020 in a 1-0 loss to Finland, which necessitated the implantation of a cardioverter-defibrillator to allow him to continue his professional playing career. He has since fully recovered and currently plays his club football in Germany at Wolfsburg.
