Tijjani Reijnders has officially completed his transfer from Manchester City to Saudi Pro League side Al Qadsiah. Brendan Rodgers' team secured the Netherlands international for a reported £52 million, bringing him to Khobar in Saudi Arabia's eastern region.
Manchester City signed the 28-year-old from AC Milan just last summer. However, the club has already brought in Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest for £116 million, and is close to finalizing an £85 million deal for Morocco international Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille. Meanwhile, Chelsea captain Enzo Fernandez is another midfielder targeted by City.
City also bid farewell to veteran Portuguese midfielder Bernardo Silva this summer following his move to Real Madrid, while Spain captain Rodri joined Barcelona for £65 million on Tuesday. Despite a bright start, Tijjani Reijnders struggled to secure a permanent role during what became Pep Guardiola's final season at the club, netting seven goals in 47 appearances. He contributed to League Cup and FA Cup triumphs, though Manchester City finished runners-up to Arsenal in the Premier League.
Ahead of his move to Saudi Arabia, Tijjani Reijnders had been training away from the main squad under new coach Enzo Maresca. Internationally, he represented the Netherlands at the 2026 World Cup, playing in group matches against Japan, Sweden, and Tunisia, but missed the penalty shootout defeat to Morocco in the last-32 round.
Al Qadsiah mounted a strong challenge for the Saudi Pro League title last season before finishing an impressive fourth. Brendan Rodgers' squad opened their new campaign last Thursday with a 3-1 victory over Al Shabab. This transfer marks the Saudi Pro League's second major acquisition from English football this summer, following Al Hilal's signing of Dutch player Crysencio Summerville for €64.5 million last month. The Saudi Pro League transfer window closes on September 6.
