Max Verstappen's new contract announcement coincides with his home F1 race this weekend at the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort. Multiple Formula One world champion Max Verstappen has signed a new contract with Red Bull Racing until the end of 2030, the team announced, effectively ending speculation over his future in the sport.

“Four more years of full send. We are delighted to announce that Max has signed a contract extension with the team until the end of 2030,” Red Bull stated on X on Thursday.

The announcement arrived as preparations reached their peak for Verstappen’s home race this Sunday, the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort, bringing excitement to his thousands of orange-clad fans. Verstappen remains one of the most successful Formula One drivers of all time, having dominated the sport with four consecutive world championships starting from 2021.

However, results have proven more challenging this season. The 28-year-old has faced difficulties seeing the chequered flag during the first half of the year and currently sits sixth in the drivers’ championship standings.

“This commitment is about more than continuing an already extraordinary alliance,” the team remarked in its official statement. “It is a powerful statement of mutual trust and ambition – and a shared decision to shape the future together.”

The uncompetitive performance of the Red Bull car this year had previously fueled rumors that the Dutch driver might consider a switch to another team or potentially exit Formula One entirely. Nonetheless, Verstappen expressed his strong motivation to lead the team back to winning ways.

“We have the best people and I’m excited to keep working together with everyone to get back to the top again,” he noted.

Verstappen is yet to secure a Grand Prix victory in the 2026 season and holds sixth place in the 2026 Formula One Drivers’ Championship following 11 rounds.

The latest news adds heightened anticipation to the final edition of the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort. Verstappen previously dominated his home track by winning the first three editions after its return to the circuit in 2021, though he has more recently chased McLaren in his home country, with Papaya drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri taking the last two victories. Verstappen is anticipated to wear a special helmet for the event, drawing inspiration from traditional blue Delft pottery. Event promoters chose not to continue racing at Zandvoort, influenced partly by uncertainties surrounding Verstappen’s future and his massive impact on the event's popularity.

“I have always said it: The team is like a second family for me and I feel very at home,” Verstappen stated. “I came to the team hoping to be able to win races. What we went on to achieve together has been simply lovely,” he added, using his signature phrase.
