Dayne “Da Hawaiian Hitman” Viernes is set to defend his super heavyweight title and cement his legacy as the greatest in Power Slap history when he faces Vasilii “Dumpling” Kamotskii in Abu Dhabi next month. This highly anticipated rematch will take place at Power Slap 25, held at Abu Dhabi’s Space42 Arena on October 23, the day before UFC 333.

Viernes, who previously dethroned Kamotskii in June 2025 with a majority decision victory at Power Slap 13, expressed his readiness for the upcoming bout. “Physically and mentally, I’m ready to make a statement. Right now I’m just perfecting my slap and ready to win the title. Training daily and excited to showcase my skills,” Viernes told The National. Following his win over Kamotskii, Viernes successfully defended his championship against the top-ranked Makini “Big Mak” Manu via a split decision.

This marks Viernes's first competition in Abu Dhabi, and he is eager to deliver a memorable performance. “Yes, first time in Abu Dhabi. I’m excited to put on a show for the fans at the Space42 Arena and around the world to get the win, be known as the greatest super heavyweight of Power Slap of all time and hopefully getting some knockout reactions,” he stated.

The rivalry between Kamotskii and the Viernes family has deep roots, with significant ties to Abu Dhabi. Kamotskii previously faced Dayne’s older brother, Layne Viernes, in the UAE capital in October 2024, resulting in a majority draw. Kamotskii later defeated Layne to capture the super heavyweight title, adding another layer to the family's history in the city.

While October 23 will be Dayne’s debut in Abu Dhabi, it will be Kamotskii’s third consecutive year competing there. Viernes is focused on securing a knockout victory, stating, “I’m expecting his best and nothing less and I’m looking for a KO win.”

For Kamotskii, the return to Abu Dhabi presents an opportunity for redemption. “The audience and atmosphere in Abu Dhabi are really great. I love performing in Abu Dhabi. I haven't been able to win in Abu Dhabi before, but this time it'll be different,” he commented. “We need to knock out Dayne to reclaim my title and for me to be the best superheavyweight of all time in Power Slap.”

Power Slap chief executive Frank Lamicella highlighted the significance of hosting the event during Abu Dhabi Showdown Week. “In Power Slap, we always want to put the best against the best. Abu Dhabi is the world’s fight capital,” Lamicella told The National. “There is no bigger stage to hold two super heavyweights – weighing in at nearly 800 pounds together – vying to be named the best in the world in the super heavyweight division.”
