Harry Brook etched his name in the history books by smashing a blistering double century in a tri-series encounter against Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi. Brook's incredible innings of 202 runs off just 116 balls propelled England to a colossal total of 429-4, marking the first-ever ODI double century by an England batter.

Not only was it Brook's maiden ODI double century, but it also stood as the fastest in the format's history, reaching the milestone in a mere 114 balls. This feat surpassed the previous record held by India captain Shubman Gill, who achieved his double century off 127 balls last month against the West Indies.

On Thursday, Brook's remarkable display included 21 fours and 10 sixes, enabling him to reach the coveted 200 mark in the final over of England's innings. The England captain also joined the elite club of batters, alongside West Indies legend Chris Gayle, to have scored a Test triple century, an ODI double ton, and a T20 hundred.

Brook's scintillating knock also eclipsed Ben Stokes' previous record for England's highest individual ODI score of 182. His brilliant innings concluded on the very last ball of England's innings, as he was caught by Sahan Arachchige off the bowling of Janith Liyanage.

Joe Root offered solid support with a contribution of 69 runs from 66 balls, finishing as England's second-highest scorer. Will Jacks remained unbeaten on a rapid 66 off just 30 deliveries. This match saw Sri Lanka concede their highest score ever and marked the biggest total ever scored in Pakistan.

Brook, already recognized among the top five Test and T20 batters, is now poised to enter the top 10 in ODI rankings. The right-handed batter has firmly established himself as one of the world's premier batsmen and a rare all-format talent.
