Qatar is among the first nations to adopt Baxter International Inc.'s new Welch Allyn Connex 360 Vital Signs Monitor, a secure and connected technology designed to automate vital signs documentation and enhance patient data protection. This initiative aligns with Qatar's National Vision 2030, aiming for an integrated health system.

The launch event in Doha saw prominent healthcare leaders, clinicians, and IT specialists from key institutions including the Ministry of Interior, Hamad Medical Corporation, The View Hospital, Military Medical City Hospital, and Sidra Medicine. Attendees experienced live demonstrations showcasing the Connex 360's automated documentation and Early Warning Score capabilities.

Beata Karasinska, general manager for Baxter's CEEMEA region, expressed pride in introducing the Connex 360 to Qatar. "We are proud to introduce Connex 360 in Qatar and to support healthcare providers with a connected monitoring solution that helps clinicians access timely patient information, streamline workflows and spend more time with their patients, with the confidence that patient data is protected," she stated. Karasinska added, "This launch reflects our long-term commitment to the country and to our mission to Save and Sustain Lives."

The Connex 360 is capable of capturing a full set of vital signs—including blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, and blood oxygen levels—in under a minute. Its configurable Early Warning Score protocols are designed to assist care teams in identifying patients whose conditions may be deteriorating, thereby supporting earlier clinical intervention. The monitor automatically records vital signs and securely transfers them to hospital information systems, significantly reducing the need for manual documentation, which can be time-consuming and prone to transcription errors.

In an era where healthcare systems are increasingly connected, safeguarding patient information is paramount. The Connex 360 employs end-to-end encryption and certificate-based authentication to secure data transmission between the patient's bedside and hospital systems.

This adoption by Qatar occurs as the nation actively pursues its healthcare transformation agenda under Qatar National Vision 2030 and the National Health Strategy 2024-2030, themed "Health for All." This strategy emphasizes building a health-focused society through an integrated health system prioritizing clinical excellence, sustainability, and innovation. Qatar's ongoing investments in digital health infrastructure and interoperable systems have fostered an environment conducive to the adoption and scaling of connected care technologies.

"Healthcare systems across Qatar continue to embrace innovation that improves the quality and efficiency of care," Karasinska noted. Baxter continues to build on its legacy of innovation in patient monitoring through the Welch Allyn portfolio, investing in connected care technologies that aim to enhance efficiency, patient safety, and clinical outcomes for healthcare providers.
