Jay-Z is set to headline the Super Bowl halftime show next year, bringing three decades of hip-hop anthems to one of music's most prominent stages. The acclaimed rapper will perform at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, on February 14, as part of the Apple Music Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show. "From Reasonable Doubt to standing on the Super Bowl Halftime stage, this has been a journey," Jay-Z stated. "Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world’s biggest stage. This run continues to be a dream come true." His performance follows that of his wife, Beyonce, who previously headlined the show in New Orleans in 2013, reuniting with Destiny’s Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. She also made a guest appearance in 2016 during Coldplay’s headline set, performing with the band and Bruno Mars. This announcement concludes a significant anniversary year for Jay-Z, marked by "Jay-Z 30" celebrations commemorating three decades since his debut album, Reasonable Doubt, and 25 years since The Blueprint. Following his headline performance at Philadelphia’s Roots Picnic in May, he delivered three sold-out shows at Yankee Stadium in July, with Beyonce and their daughter Blue Ivy Carter in attendance. Additional performances took him to Paris and London, before concluding with two shows at SoFi Stadium last weekend. These concerts featured guest appearances from Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg, John Legend, DJ Khaled, Scarface, Too Short, and Blue Ivy, providing the rapper with recent familiarity with the venue he will return to in February. The anniversary celebrations also included "Jay-Z in 8," an eight-part documentary series where he discussed songs from his extensive catalogue with producer Rick Rubin. Jay-Z's upcoming performance comes after Bad Bunny's halftime show earlier this year, which celebrated his Puerto Rican heritage with a stage design featuring a sugar-cane field and a neighborhood scene. Bad Bunny was joined by surprise performers Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin. Other notable recent halftime headliners include Kendrick Lamar, Usher, Rihanna, and The Weeknd.
