Msheireb Properties has been honored with a double gold at the Smart Built Environment Awards and an Award of Excellence from the Council on Vertical Urbanism (CVU). These accolades celebrate the company's significant contributions to heritage conservation and sustainability initiatives, including a comprehensive decarbonisation strategy that encompasses over 100 buildings.
The developer, recognized as Qatar's premier sustainable real estate entity, achieved Gold in two categories at the Smart Built Environment Awards 2026. Additionally, the Council on Vertical Urbanism (CVU) presented Msheireb Properties with an Award of Excellence, which also saw Msheireb Downtown Doha named as one of six finalists in the CVU’s Urban Habitat category.
At the Smart Built Environment Awards, Msheireb Museums received the Innovation in Architecture award. Concurrently, Eng. Faisal Al Malki, Chief Operating Officer of Msheireb Properties, was distinguished as the Net-Zero Champion of the Year.
This marks the second consecutive year Msheireb Properties has been recognized in the Innovation in Architecture category. Last year's award acknowledged Msheireb Downtown Doha's "Seven Principles," an architectural framework that harmonizes Qatari architectural heritage with contemporary sustainable design and advanced technology. This year's award specifically honors Msheireb Museums, comprising four meticulously restored heritage houses in Doha's historic quarter: Bin Jelmood House, Company House, Mohammed Bin Jassim House, and Radwani House. These houses have been revitalized to international conservation standards, utilizing carefully selected materials that preserve the original structures' spirit and building techniques, now serving to narrate Qatar's social history from the heart of a modern metropolis.
The Net-Zero Champion of the Year award recognizes Eng. Faisal Al Malki's leadership in spearheading Msheireb Properties' portfolio-wide decarbonisation strategy. This strategy is notable as the first of its kind implemented at such a scale within Qatar. It extends across more than 100 buildings, 800 residential units, and 300 retail spaces, aiming to reduce emissions across all three scopes defined by the GHG Protocol and aligning with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
The awards ceremony, organized by Built Environment Middle East, took place on October 15th at Palazzo Versace Dubai. An independent jury composed of industry experts selected the winners from 31 distinct categories.
Eng. Faisal Al Malki, Chief Operating Officer of Msheireb Properties, commented on the achievement: "This success is a testament to the unwavering dedication of the teams who bring Msheireb Downtown Doha to life daily. Sustainability is cultivated not merely through design, but through the deliberate decisions, actions, and ongoing enhancements that govern our daily operations. Our decarbonisation efforts are driven by data to achieve measurable results across our properties, in close collaboration with our tenants. The recognition of Msheireb Museums, alongside this award, underscores how innovation and heritage are intrinsically linked in shaping our future vision."
The CVU, formerly known as the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, bestowed an Award of Excellence upon Msheireb Downtown Doha. Furthermore, the development was shortlisted as one of six finalists for the CVU's Urban Habitat category award, competing against projects from the United Kingdom, Canada, Thailand, Singapore, and China. This recognition was presented this week at the 2026 VU Summit in London, following a review by the jury. This year, Awards of Excellence were granted to 73 projects, concepts, and initiatives spanning 20 countries.
