The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) has forecast a significant drop in temperatures across most regions of Egypt on Saturday. This cooler weather will be accompanied by a likelihood of rain, varying in intensity, across northern areas. Active winds are also expected, leading to disrupted maritime navigation along certain Mediterranean coasts.
During the daytime, the weather is anticipated to be moderate in most parts of the country, with slightly hot conditions in the southern reaches of Upper Egypt. As night falls and into the early morning hours, temperatures are expected to become cool to cold across the majority of regions.
Weather maps indicate a possibility of moderate rainfall in several governorates along the North Coast and in northern Lower Egypt. This rainfall could occasionally be heavy and accompanied by thunderstorms, with a 30 percent probability, particularly in areas such as El Alamein, Alexandria, the northern Delta, and North Sinai. The rain is expected to occur intermittently.
Furthermore, there is a 30 percent chance of light rain in scattered areas of southern Lower Egypt and the Suez Canal cities. This precipitation might extend to parts of Greater Cairo, northern Upper Egypt, the Gulf of Suez, central and southern Sinai, and as far south as the Halayeb and Shalateen regions.
Satellite imagery has detected intermittent wind activity across most regions, which is exacerbating the perception of lower temperatures. Maritime navigation is experiencing disruptions along portions of the Mediterranean coast, specifically affecting Matrouh, El Alamein, Alexandria, Beheira, Kafr el-Sheikh, Damietta, Port Said, and el-Arish. Wind speeds in these affected areas are projected to range between 40-50 kilometers per hour, with wave heights reaching between two and 3.5 meters.
The EMA has advised the public to take necessary precautions and to remain informed by consulting the latest bulletins issued by the authority.
