Egypt is preparing for a modern era of air transport with the introduction of flying taxi services, designed to offer fast transportation between key cities and tourist destinations while cutting down travel travel times compared to traditional transport modes.
Targeted destinations for these flying taxi routes include Greater Cairo, the North Coast, Hurghada, Luxor, Sharm El Sheikh, Saint Catherine, and Siwa Oasis.
Pricing and Routes
Flying taxi fares begin at US$ 200 per person for short trips within Cairo, which includes flights from Cairo to the Pyramids. Traveling from Almaza Airport to the Citadel or the New Administrative Capital is priced at approximately $300 per person, whereas a flight from Almaza Airport to Sheikh Zayed City costs around $350 per person.
For longer journeys between cities and tourist hotspots, a trip from Sharm El Sheikh to Saint Catherine costs roughly $900 per person. Meanwhile, a flight from Hurghada to Luxor or from Cairo to Siwa Oasis costs around $1,500 per person.
Swift Flights
The primary benefit of the flying taxi service is the significant reduction in travel duration between destinations. A trip between Cairo and the North Coast takes about 60 minutes. Likewise, traveling from Cairo to the Siwa Oasis takes roughly 60 minutes, offering a much quicker alternative to conventional land travel.
The rollout of flying taxi services aligns with a broader push toward adopting advanced transportation methods to better connect cities and tourist locations, particularly those that typically involve lengthy road journeys.
